Citroen C5 ad
The tagline of the ad is “the new Citroen C5: Unmistakably German. *Made in France”.
Citroen would probably be very shy about actually making a “german” (note lowercase) car. So, why are they advertising the C5, which is, one hopes, emphatically not “german” as “unmistakably German”? Is it a pisstake aimed at people who don’t want a “german” car? Is it completely straight, aimed at enticing people who would have bought a 5-Series (or, being an ad for the UK market, had a 5-Series bought for them)?
How hard is it to stuff up an ad for a beautiful, comfortable car? Not hard enough, apparently.
