Pity Trophies (via me!)
On the weekend I entered my first real motorsports event, the Kilcoy Road Rally. It was 300-odd kms of public-road navigation, three motorkhana tests, a “reversing test” and a timed 10-lap slot car dash. I thought it was a lot of fun, as did my navigator, Chris.
I came 14th of 18. There were five (four?) entries from my club, the rest of the entrants being from several other clubs. Because we got the best score in the club (all the other entrants from my club were newbies, too) I got the smaller trophy. And then, because of how the scoring worked out, mostly because my club had the most entrants, my club won the teams event, hence the larger trophy.
Let’s not talk about how I lost the bumper fascia.
